Sicilian Pizza Marinara
It’s simple, it’s beautiful, and all the ingredients are usually always in your pantry. The Marinara Pizza.
Ingredients
Forza Pizza’s Simple Sicilian Pizza Dough
20 oz Sauce (recipe here)
About 5 cloves of garlic
Extra virgin olive oil
Oregano
A handful of basil leaves
Steps
1. Prepare and stretch dough as described in the Simple Sicilian Dough Recipe.
2. Prepare the sauce as described in this recipe and lay it down like below.
3. Roughly chop the garlic, put it in a bowl, and add the EVOO until all the garlic is covered. Coating the garlic in oil prevents raw garlic from burning and also provides a richer taste.
4. Spoon drizzle the garlic so it’s evenly scattered.
5. Sprinkle the oregano over the top and don’t be skimpy with it.
6. Bake or convect bake at 500F. My pizzas are baked in an electric home oven on convect at 500F.
7. After bake, scatter the fresh basil leaves and you’re done. This step can definitely be optional if you don’t have fresh basil on hand, or if you simply prefer not to do it. One of the nice things about a marinara pizza is all the toppings - tomato, garlic, oregano, and EVOO - are typically always in your pantry. In other words, don’t let fresh basil stop you from making this pizza.
